Matchday 1 of the 2022 World Cup group stage – Group G:
Lusail Iconic Stadium (Lusail, Qatar).
Brazil beat Serbia: 2-0.
Goals: Richarlison (62nd, 73rd) for Brazil.
In the last match of the first day of the group stage of the 2022 World Cup, Brazil managed to overcome Serbia after the hour mark thanks to a magnificent double from Richarlison (2-0).
Considered one of the favorites of this World Cup in Qatar, Brazil was expected for its entry into the running. Except that the group of Tite stumbled for a long time on a solid Serbian team. Neymar (13th, 54th), Raphinha (46th) and Alex Sandro (59th) were very close to opening the scoring, but it was ultimately Richarlison who would tip this meeting in favor of the Seleçao! First by scoring in the empty goal after a fine action by Vinicius (1-0 in the 62nd minute), then by scoring a bombazo via a control sequence – beautifully returned scissor (2-0 in the 73rd minute).

Following this double from the Tottenham striker, Brazil had a more difficult end to the match with the injury exit of Neymar (79th) and the crossbar of Casemiro (81st). Despite everything, Brazil won against Serbia and therefore made a success of their start in this World Cup. Thanks to this success (2-0), Brazil take the lead in Group G, ahead of Switzerland, victorious over Cameroon a little earlier in the day (1-0). Next Monday, Brazil will also face the Swiss for a place in the round of 16. With or without Neymar? In any case, the yellow and green country holds its breath…
