Woman opens fire and causes chaos at busy Texas airport (videos)

Shortly before 11:00 a.m. (6:00 p.m. Belgian time), a 37-year-old woman presented herself near the counters at Dallas Love Field airport and then went to the restroom, Dallas Police Chief Eddie Garcia reported during of a press briefing. She came out with her head covered by “a hood”, took out a pistol and began to fire several shots “a priori towards the ceiling”, for a motive which remains unknown, he added.

An officer neutralized her by shooting her in the legs. Placed under arrest, she was transferred to the hospital. No other victims are to be deplored, according to the police chief.

The shootings triggered chaos in the airport, very busy in this summer period. Passengers ran, screamed and took cover, local media reported. Flights have been temporarily suspended until calm returns.

The United States is still reeling from a series of particularly bloody shootings, notably in a supermarket frequented by African-Americans (10 dead, May 14), a school in Texas (21 dead, May 24) or a National Day parade (7 dead, July 4).
