He was only allowed to do two solo films as Spider-Man, but Andrew Garfield recently commented on a potential return as a friendly neighborhood spider.
– Warning: Spoilers for “Spider-Man: No Way Home” will follow! –
Andrew Garfield has had a more than remarkable film year in 2021. First he portrayed the condemned television preacher Jim Bakker in “The Eyes of Tammy Faye” before he subsequently demonstrated his talent as a singer and dancer to the world in Lin-Manuel Miranda’s musical film “Tick, Tick… Boom!”. But the highlight of the year for many moviegoers was probably his comeback at Tobey Maguire’s side in “Spider-Man: No Way Home”.
In an interview with Variety the 38-year-old actor revealed some details about the two weeks that Tobey Maguire and he spent on the set and expressed his interest in a return as the eponymous wall crawler. When asked if he would re-impersonate Peter Parker, Garfield replied:
“I mean, yes, I definitely feel like it, if it feels right. Peter [Parker] and Spider-Man, these characters embody a service for the common good. He is a working class boy from Queens who is familiar with struggle and loss and can be very empathetic. I would try to adopt Peter Parker’s ethical framework because if there was an opportunity to come back to this story and tell more of it, I would have to be very sure of myself. “
In “Spider-Man: No Way Home”, three network vibrators from three different universes meet. Fans were so enthusiastic about Garfield’s comeback that they campaigned for “The Amazing Spider-Man 3”. In our video, we will reveal to you what effects the overlapping of the individual universes has for the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU).
The meeting of three Spider-Men
In the conversation, Andrew Garfield also shared some anecdotes from his collaboration with Tom Holland and Tobey Maguire. It was mainly about the advantages and disadvantages that the costume of the respective Spider-Man version brings with it:
“I think the first time all three of us were in suits was wonderful because we were just three ordinary guys hanging out as actors. […] We talked about going to the bathroom and, you know, we were trying to unzip the upholstery. We talked about how it was easiest for us. Tom was very jealous because I have small zippers so I can free my hands very quickly. To use his cell phone, for example, he had to use his nose because he couldn’t use his hands. “[display-posts orderby="rand"]
In addition, the actor, who was nominated for a Golden Globe, told how an improvised line of his ended up in the film. The moment in which Garfield’s Spider-Man tells his two companions that he loves them, came from his personal attitude towards the two acting colleagues. The filmmakers seemed to perceive the saying as sensitive and accordingly adequate and so this heartwarming moment ended up in “Spider-Man: No Way Home”.
