Why will the Suresnes American Cemetery be illuminated this Monday?

The Suresnes American Cemetery, located on Mont Valérien, is celebrating a special event this Monday, March 6, even a centenary. By candlelight, discover this place of military commemoration, exceptionally illuminated this Monday, from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.

This Monday, March 6, 2023, from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m., a unusual evening will take place within the Suresnes American Cemeterythe monument located on the hillside, on the slopes of Mont Valérien, since it will be illuminated by hundreds of electric candles, to commemorate a very special event.

Indeed, this Monday, March 6 celebrates thecentennial of the American Battle Monument’s Commission, an agency that works to oversee American military cemeteries abroad, created in 1923. This organization cares for, honors and commemorates American soldiers who have fallen in combat during major world conflicts.
