Wheel of fortune fairy and jungle queen
Maren Gilzer wants to get into politics

She knows a thing or two about twisting letters. And she already has government experience. Anyway, somehow. After all, Maren Gilzer is not only an ex “wheel of fortune” fairy, but also Jungle Queen of 2015. Is that enough for a career in politics?

Her ex-boss showed her how to do it. After all, the former “wheel of fortune” turner Peter Bond was already involved in the FDP before he even temporarily became deputy state chairman of the “Democratic Citizens Germany” party in Saarland in 2016.

However, the grouping no longer exists. And Bond’s political ambitions have also been on hold since then. So it is high time that his former assistant for letter questions steps out of his shadow and throws her hat into the political arena herself.

The former “wheel of fortune” fairy Maren Gilzer is now running for the office of mayor of Oberkrämer, a village community in Brandenburg, reports the “Bild” newspaper. “The previous mayor is retiring, I was asked if I would like. And I have,” the 61-year-old told the newspaper, which is why she might soon be able to rule over the weal and woe of 11,833 citizens.

Election on January 23rd

When it comes to her political home, Gilzer emulates her former TV colleague. She has been a member of the FDP since 2017, writes the “Bild” newspaper. The convincing argument for joining the Liberals was party leader Christian Lindner. “He just convinced me,” said Gilzer.

“As a moderator, I’ve been used to moderating different opinions and processes for years. And I listen carefully to what moves people,” explains Gilzer, which, in her opinion, best qualifies her for the post. As mayor, she wants to work, among other things, for better connections to local public transport, faster internet and more gastronomy in the village community.

The election will take place on January 23rd. And maybe Gilzer will actually succeed in convincing the people of Oberkrämer of himself by then. After all, she has already succeeded in doing this in another vote. In 2015 they chose the audience of “I am a star – get me out of here!” to the jungle queen. A crown as chic as the one she received at the time from Sonja Zietlow and Daniel Hartwich will probably not beckon her in Brandenburg.
