WELLCOME TRUST: Product Designer (UX/UI designer)

Product designers are responsible for the user experience of our digital products. Working closely with the product team and members of staff across Wellcome Trust to deliver user centered services and products that meet business goals. We are looking for a someone to join the team working on how we can use data to support Wellcome’s mission to address worldwide health challenges of mental health, infectious disease and climate and health.

You’ll love thinking about the end-to-end user journey as well as zooming in on the details of user interactions. You’ll like working in a multidisciplinary product team and be interested in how your team’s work connects with other teams. You’ll enjoy sharing ideas and techniques with other practitioners to develop skills and build our collective understanding of users.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with product managers, developers, user researchers, data analysts, delivery managers and stakeholders to understand the problem space and articulate requirements

  • Produce thoughtful designs that balance user needs, technical constraints and business goals

  • Create and test patterns to improve user experience of information architecture and interaction of digital products

  • Ensure designs align with the Wellcome design system, and contribute improvements to the design system

  • Communicate and champion the importance of user centered design to digital teams and throughout the Wellcome Trust

  • Be accountable for the quality of you and your team’s design outputs

  • Contribute to the development of a diverse and inclusive culture across the organisation

Skills and Experience:

  • A strong portfolio showcasing a range of work across multiple projects and products

  • Extensive knowledge and understanding of user centered design methods

  • Demonstrable experience using prototypes to explore ideas, communicate options, and test designs with real users

  • Experience working on digital products for wide range of users, with knowledge of accessibility and inclusive design practices

  • Experience working iteratively as part of a multi-disciplinary team and comfortable with agile ways of working

  • Able to identify and deliver design deliverables from sketching to prototypes

  • Related qualifications/degree or equivalent work experience
