The temperatures were already pleasant last week, but that was only the beginning. From May 15 to 19, a heat dome is expected throughout France, with temperatures approaching 40 degrees in some cities.
While Pakistan and India have been experiencing a worrying heat wave for several weeks, with temperatures approaching 50 degrees, France will experience a heat dome on its territory. Already last week, the temperatures had started to rise, but had remained within the normal range. This weekend and its few predicted thunderstorms will slightly refresh the atmosphere, before a exceptional heat wavewhich could raise the temperature to 40 degrees.
The heat will be particularly intense between Tuesday and Thursdaywith temperatures exceeding 30 degrees over most of the territory. The monthly heat records should be beaten with 8 10 degrees above seasonal averages announced by Météo France. Furthermore, the high humidity levels expected could make the temperature feel as high as 40 degrees. It won’t work out night, with temperatures reaching 19 degrees in major cities. The weather will only begin to cool on Friday, May 20, 2022.
