Cricket fans had seen the unmatched century of Evin Lewis a day earlier. The very next day, all-rounder Kieran Pollard of the Caribbean team got a stormy look in the Caribbean Premier League (CPL). He played a vital role in taking Trinbago Knight Riders to the semi-finals, hitting 51 runs in just 22 balls, hitting 3 fours and 5 sixes.
Apart from captain Kieron Pollard, the hero of the victory of the Riders was Ali Khan, who took 3 wickets for just 19 runs. TKR topped the points table after the league stage. They will now face St. Lucia Kings in the first semi-final on Tuesday, while the Patriots and Guyana Amazon Warriors will clash in the second semi-final.
Talking about the match, the Patriots got off to a slow start and Chris Gayle was dismissed after scoring five runs. Joshua da Silva scored 50 runs in 45 balls but no big partnership could be made for the team. Sherfan Rutherford and Dwayne Bravo played an innings of 25-25 runs but both were dismissed within a gap of ten balls. Patriots scored 147 for seven.
TKR also got off to a slow start but the lone wicket fell in the first six overs in the form of Lendl Simmons who was dismissed by Fabian Allen. However, Pollard scored 50 runs in 20 balls to ensure TKR’s victory.
