Duplicate SIM issued to wrong customer
According to a report, this case is of a person named Bhanu, who was given a duplicate SIM card which belonged to another customer. Taking advantage of this situation, Bhanu transferred Rs 68.5 lakh from IDBI bank account to his account.
According to the report, the mobile number of Vi user Krishan Lal stopped working in May 2017. Then he went to Vi’s store in Hanumangarh and filed a complaint. He got a new number, but despite several complaints, his work could not be done and the number remained closed.

This happened when he went to a store in Jaipur and lodged a complaint to activate the SIM. Then the next day it was activated. By then the other person got the duplicate SIM and using OTP, he transferred the above amount to his account.
Reportedly, the person accessed the number 5 days after receiving the SIM card. Once it was activated, he got a message that money has been withdrawn from his account. This happened after the customer complained about the incident. At the same time, now Vi has been claimed to be compensated under the IT Act.

The police have registered a case and arrested the person who got the money. He returned Rs 44 lakh out of Rs 68 lakh to the customer. However, the remaining amount is still pending. The customer has filed another complaint regarding the same under the IT Act. Vi has been fined here for improper verification of customer data and delay in activation of the new SIM card.
