Why is Bolsonaro out of the ‘JN’ interview round?
According to TV Globo, Jair Bolsonaro did not accept to grant the interview in person at the station’s studios, in Rio de Janeiro. The broadcaster argued that, after the 2014 elections, it defined that presidential candidates must be interviewed in the same place, to ensure equal treatment. The reelection candidate’s team requested that the interview be held at Palácio da Alvorada.
“Late on Thursday night (4), Bolsonaro’s advisors sent an email reiterating their willingness to grant the interview, as long as it takes place at Alvorada, alleging campaign commitments previously made. repeatedly, Globo rejected the request and, therefore, the interview will not be carried out”, explains an excerpt from the note released by the broadcaster.
