Ugly: Cash for Rares dealers send students home

A melodious expertise is often half the battle with “Bares für Rares”, especially since it opens the door to the dealer room. What happens there, however, is another story, which student Quentin Seigel had to learn.

Quentin Seigel from Freiburg wanted to part with an heirloom at “Bares für Rares” and was hoping for a monetary subsidy for a training camp. At first everything looked as if the plan of the student and enthusiastic track and field athlete would work. According to expert Albert Maier, the desired EUR 1,000 for the ceramic vase can certainly be achieved. He found nothing wrong with the majolica and was happy to share the good news with the seller.

Quentin Seigel was of course happy to accept the dealer card and, full of optimism, made his way to the dealer room. Unfortunately, things didn’t go as hoped for Waldi and Co.

Big disappointment in the dealer room

The pleasant expertise was promptly followed by the first setback in the dealer room. The vase was “ugly as a grotto”, scolded Waldi in his own gruffly cordial way and offered a measly 40 euros. That was of course a slap in the face and unfortunately not a joke, as Quentin Seigel found out. Fabian Kahl also only wanted to raise the stake to 50 euros, so it quickly became clear that the whole thing would go wrong.

No one wanted to pay 1,000 euros, and Wolfgang Pauritsch had reached the end of the manageable flagpole at 350 euros. For this sum, the disappointed seller did not want to give up the vase and took it home again. You can find particularly beautiful rarities from “Bares for Rares” in the video.

“Bares for Rares” will be broadcast as usual from Monday to Friday at 3:05 p.m. on ZDF. Reruns run on the offshoot ZDF Neo at 8:50 a.m. and at 6:30 p.m. The concept of the show hasn’t changed to this day: people like Quentin Seigel have their goods appraised by experts and then haggle over the selling price in the dealer’s room.
