Tragic accident: marksman (18) shoots himself

What shocking news: Cristian Ghilli is dead. The native Italian made a name for himself as an athlete as a young talent in clay pigeon shooting. The youngster was the reigning junior world champion in clay pigeon shooting and also won the European championship with his team in May of last year. Now tragic reports about Cristian made the rounds: The 18-year-old was killed in a bad accident.

As The Sun reports, the Italian had an accident on a hunting trip with his friends. In a forest near Pisa, the marksman is said to have bent down to his weapon and accidentally pressed the trigger – he shot himself in the stomach, whereupon his friends called the ambulance. He was then immediately taken to the nearest hospital – there was Cristian emergency operation by the responsible doctors.

Apparently the injuries and internal bleeding could not be stopped. He was officially pronounced dead on Thursday, January 6th at 10:00 p.m. Luciano Rossi, the president of the Italian shooting club, spoke up shortly afterwards: “Respect, silence and condolences in the face of tragedy that distresses everyone.”
