The second trailer too „Spider-Man: No Way Home“ has rekindled the anticipation for the last film of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU); also because he has probably confirmed the biggest rumor about performances by old Spider-Man actors Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield. You are supposed to be the current Peter Parker actor Tom Holland supposedly keeping company. If the current Spider-Man star has its way, he could soon make room for his successor himself.

Prepare for “No Way Home”: You can stream “Spider-Man: Far From Home” on Amazon Prime Video

On an extended profile from GQ, Tom Holland said with surprising clarity:

“Maybe it’s time for me to move on. Maybe it is best for Spider-Man if they make a Miles Morales film. I have to think of Peter Parker too, of course, he’s an important part of my life. […] If I play Spider-Man after turning 30, I’ve done something wrong.

To save you the google search: Tom Holland is currently 25 years old. According to his own claim, he only has five years left as Spider-Man. If he keeps his stint at solo films, we could expect three more films as Peter Parker by then. Some appearances in other projects could be added as in the past; be it in the MCU with the Avengers and / or in Sony’s Spider-Man Universe (SSU) with Venom (Tom Hardy) and Co. The multiverse makes the latter possible and that will play a big role in “No Way Home”, like that new trailer clarifies:

Streaming tips of the week: tick, tick … boom! and more

Miles Morales is a very promising successor to Peter Parker

Six solo films as Spider-Man would be an impressive number, after all, Tobey Maguire only got three and Andrew Garfield only two. Nevertheless, many fans are probably not exactly happy about Holland’s prognosis. Although he throws his successor into the room, to whom he recently promised his help.

Marvel fans have long wanted a live-action screen debut by Miles Morales, who after three Peter Parker could probably also provide the necessary variety. In the Oscar-winning animated film “Spider-Man: A New Universe” he already took on the lead role, and in the popular video game “Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales” he was – the title subtly suggests – the protagonist.

In a real-life version, however, Miles Morales is a long time coming. With Aaron Davis, at least his uncle made it in “Spider-Man: Homecoming”, who also mentioned his nephew in the film. Davis was played by Donald Glover for a reason: A scene in the sitcom “Community” in which he wears Spider-Man pajamas served as the visual template for Miles Morales’ first comic book appearance. Donald Glover is now unfortunately too old to play Morales, but of course he could return as his uncle if the new Spider-Man actually makes his live-action debut soon.

Miles Morales is the son of black cop Jefferson Davis and the nurse Rio Morales, who is of Hispanic descent, in the comics. By unfortunate coincidence, he is bitten by a spider bred in which the formula was copied that had already been transformed by Peter Parker. In addition to the well-known Spider-Man skills, Miles has other talents: He can actually make himself invisible for a short period of time and discharge electric shocks.

A truly special Spider-Man that we can look forward to sooner or later in the MCU and / or SSU. First of all, we can look forward to Tom Holland’s Peter Parker: “Spider-Man: No Way Home” starts in German cinemas on December 15, 2021.

Maybe Holland’s Spider-Man will even say goodbye with a screen death. Then he would keep these Marvel characters company. But how did they die?
