The Walking Dead has come to an end after 11 seasons, leaving many fans emotional with the series finale, and freaking out over the return of a beloved character.
“A Sheriff awakens from a coma to find the world in ruins, and must lead a group of survivors to stay alive,” reads the series synopsis.
With Andrew Lincoln having led the cast over nine seasons, stars like Norman Reedus, Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Lauren Cohan, Melissa McBride and Danai Gurira also make an appearance.
The series finale had a glowing reference to the very first episode of the first season, and many fans didn’t notice.
Judith gets even closer to Rick Grimes
Some of the most iconic scenes happened in the first season. One was of Rick Grimes waking up alone in a hospital, months after the outbreak began.
He was recovering from a gunshot wound. After that, he leaves the room blocked by a bed, looking for someone.
That moment actually happens in season 11, with Judith lying in a hospital bed, and Daryl even blocking the bedroom door with another bed. The ending ends up paying homage to the beginning of the series.
Season 11 still saw many returning characters, and as it approached its finale, audiences were speculating who would die.
Judith doesn’t have much time with her father before he sacrifices himself in season nine, but she ends up being his mirror on the show.
However, every detail of her in the series seemed to bring her even closer to Rick’s personality, in an attempt to still make Rick remembered.
In addition to mirroring her father, she also has details very close to her brother, Carl, who was shot in the second season and became bedridden.
The series ended up alienating the Grimes family in the end, but it’s hoped they could be reunited in the spin-off that will bring Rick and Michonne.
Even with Rick’s absence from The Walking Dead, the connection between him and his children, especially Judith at the end of the series, was still very strong.
