After 12 years of history, The Walking Dead has come to an end. “Rest in Peace,” the final episode of the zombie series, aired this past Sunday (November 20). The outcome, as usual, was talked about on social media. Many fans didn’t realize it, but the conclusion completely changes the plot of Robert Kirkman’s comics.
The final episodes of The Walking Dead, it is worth remembering, adapt the series’ comics and show the long-awaited war between the Commonwealth and the other communities of survivors.
But the end of The Walking Dead is actually just another beginning! The zombie universe continues to live on with several spin-offs such as Fear the Walking Dead, World Beyond and the upcoming series of Maggie, Negan, Daryl and Rick Grimes.
We reveal below how the ending of The Walking Dead completely changes one of the most important plotlines in the comics; check out.
Death at the end of The Walking Dead is very different in the comics
Before the airing of “Rest in Peace”, the main question of fans of The Walking Dead was the following: who will die in the final episode?
Surprisingly, only one major character meets her end at the end of the series: Rosita.
In one of the most emotional scenes of the series, the character says goodbye to friends and loved ones before facing death in the last minutes of the episode.
But Rosita’s fate is sealed at the beginning of the chapter, when the character falls into a horde of zombies. Initially, the series implies that Rosita escapes unharmed.
However, as the episode progresses, Rosita reveals to Eugene that one of the undead has bitten her in the back. In other words: not even an amputation could save her.
It’s a tragic ending for one of The Walking Dead’s most beloved characters. Played by Christian Serratos, Rosita is introduced in Season 4.
Rosita’s death is made even more tragic by the fact that the character left her daughter behind. Unfortunately, Socorro will grow up without her mother’s company.
Rosita’s ending on The Walking Dead is quite different from the character’s death in Robert Kirkman’s comics.
In the comics, Rosita doesn’t even make it to the Commonwealth. In fact, the character becomes one of the victims of the Whisperers.
Rosita is murdered by Alpha in issue #144 of The Walking Dead. The character’s head is placed on a spike, similar to what happens to Henry, Enid and Tara at the end of season 9.
To make matters worse, Rosita was pregnant. The character’s death causes a huge desire for revenge in the survivors, who do everything to decimate the Whisperers.
In other words: the ending of Rosita in the AMC series is much more “calm” and peaceful than the character’s death in the comics.
