Most of these modifications have been approved for the public, but one twist in particular has drawn criticism on social media.
Based on the comics by Gerard Way and Gabriel Bá, The Umbrella Academy has Elliot Page, Robert Sheehan, Tom Hopper, Emmy Raver-Lampman, David Castañeda and other stars in its main cast.
“With the death of their father, brothers with extraordinary powers are reunited and discover surprising family secrets – as well as an imminent threat to humanity,” reads the official synopsis of The Umbrella Academy on Netflix.
We explain below why one of The Umbrella Academy season 3 changes was blasted by viewers; check out.
The Umbrella Academy Fans Hated Allison’s Plot
In the Netflix series, Allison – Number 3 – is played by Emmy Raver-Lampman. The character has the power to manipulate people with her voice.
Allison is greatly affected by the timeline changes. In season 3 of The Umbrella Academy, the character realizes that her daughter is no longer alive in the present.
But for many fans, the character’s response to the trauma was “too far.” In one of the season 3 episodes, Allison uses her powers to force Luther to sleep with her.
On social media, the scene provoked the ire of viewers. After all, Allison tries to rape Luther.
“That scene with Allison and Luther was disgusting. Regardless of the trauma, it was an attempted sexual abuse,” one fan commented in a Reddit thread.
For many viewers, the scene “spoiled” Allison’s plot and ruined the character forever.
“I wanted to empathize with her, but that scene destroyed all my goodwill,” opined another viewer.
On Twitter, many people took the opportunity to criticize the writers of The Umbrella Academy.
“The Umbrella Academy writers are very strange. They took Allison, one of the best characters, and completely destroyed her. And all this for what?”, asked a fan of the series.
According to most fans, Allison’s scene doesn’t make sense and doesn’t match the character’s personality.
“This shit couldn’t have happened! Even bereaved, Allison would never do that,” commented another fan.
According to the plot of The Umbrella Academy season 3, Allison is expected to take on a much more obscure role in the next episodes.
“They wrote this scene to give the audience a valid reason to hate Allison. It was all very strange,” concluded one viewer on Twitter.
The Umbrella Academy season 3 is now available on Netflix.
