The surprising connection between Hillary Clinton’s defeat and Vladimir Putin’s war in Ukraine

What connection can there be between Hillary Clinton’s defeat in the 2016 US presidential election against Donald Trump and the war in Ukraine led by Vladimir Putin’s Russia since February 24? So far, none, it seemed. The two events are however much more connected than one could imagine. This is the conclusion of an extensive survey published by Jim Rutenberg in the New York TimesMagazine. The journalist relied on hundreds of pages of documents compiled by the team of special prosecutor Robert Mueller – which was investigating the 2016 Russian interference known as Russiagate – a special Senate intelligence committee, transcripts of hearings during Trump’s impeachment proceedings, various books on Russiagate and multiple interviews in Ukraine and the United States.
