When it was announced that Idris Elba would play a bloodthirsty gunner in ‘The Suicide Squad‘, many fans imagined that the star would replace Will Smith as Gunslinger.
However, everything got confused when it was revealed that Elba would bring the Bloodthirsty to life (hence the pun in the previous paragraph).
But it looks like the production team really wanted to keep Deadshot in the feature.
Through Twitter, the page nerd talks shared concept art showing the character hanging from the rubble of a building, hinting that his participation was considered until the early stages of production.

But, as both characters have practically the same abilities… Why change Deadshot for an assassin not so well known by the public?
During an interview for the Entertainment Tonight🇧🇷 Elba was questioned about the matter and said that he did not want to take the place of Smith.
“These rumors about me taking the place of will were natural because he said he wasn’t going to be joining the second film, so it was quite natural for fans to think that I would be the new Deadshot, but that was never my intention.”
He continued, thanking the director James Gunn by recasting the role:
“Will is a great friend and I am delighted that James didn’t put me in his place, I didn’t want to do that. Deadshot is a great character and will He gave his all with that character, so I was really excited and had a good laugh when those rumors started circulating.”

“Welcome to Hell – aka Bell Reve, the highest death toll prison in the United States. Where the worst super-villains are kept and where they’ll do anything to escape – even join the super-secret, super-dubious group Task Force X. Today’s suicide mission? Assemble a group of con artists including Bloodthirsty, Peacemaker, Captain Boomerang, Ratcatcher 2, Savant, King Shark, Blackguard, Dart and everyone’s favorite psycho, Harley Quinn. Then arm them with force and drop them (literally) on the remote, enemy-ridden island of Corto Maltese.”
Some names reprise their roles from the previous film, such as Viola Davis (Amanda Waller) Margot Robbie (Harley Quinn), Jai Courtney (Captain Boomerang) and Joel Kinnaman (Rick Flag).
Among the novices are Idris Elba, Taika Waititi🇧🇷 Alice Braga and Michael Rooker, Nathan Fillion, Pete Davidson, Flula Borg🇧🇷 Sean Gunn and Mayling Ng.
