But, as both characters have practically the same abilities… Why change Deadshot for an assassin not so well known by the public?

During an interview for the Entertainment Tonight🇧🇷 Elba was questioned about the matter and said that he did not want to take the place of Smith.

“These rumors about me taking the place of will were natural because he said he wasn’t going to be joining the second film, so it was quite natural for fans to think that I would be the new Deadshot, but that was never my intention.”

He continued, thanking the director James Gunn by recasting the role:

“Will is a great friend and I am delighted that James didn’t put me in his place, I didn’t want to do that. Deadshot is a great character and will He gave his all with that character, so I was really excited and had a good laugh when those rumors started circulating.”

Assemble a group of con artists including Bloodthirsty, Peacemaker, Captain Boomerang, Ratcatcher 2, Savant, King Shark, Blackguard, Dart and everyone’s favorite psycho, Harley Quinn. Then arm them with force and drop them (literally) on the remote, enemy-ridden island of Corto Maltese.”
