The new Witcher series already avoids a major problem of the original

The new Witcher series, which will be a prequel to the original, The Witcher: Inception, is one of Netflix’s most anticipated series for this year. Michelle Yeoh will be the protagonist of the spin-off.

Unlike the series with Henry Cavill, The Witcher: Inception seems to avoid the biggest problem of the production that receives some criticism from fans of the saga.

“1,200 years before Geralt of Rivia, the world of monsters, men and elves becomes one, and the first wizard appears”, says the synopsis.

The cast includes Michelle Yeoh, Sophia Brown, Laurence O’Fuarain, Mirren Mack, Dylan Moran, among others.

The Witcher: Origin may have more creative freedom

Henry Cavill’s departure has raised some questions about The Witcher’s allegiance to the Witcher franchise’s books and games.

The Witcher arguably doesn’t have as much creative freedom as Cavill would like. The actor left the role after reportedly being dissatisfied with the screenwriters.

Also, The Witcher: Inception shouldn’t follow the same issue, and may have more creative freedom than its original.

Although it is not an easy adaptation task that pleases all audiences, the derivative allows for an expansion of the universe for the franchise.

The big problem, however, will be the difficulty that The Witcher: Origin will have to attract attention to itself, since the original series is a huge success.

Cavill was the face of Geralt for the first two seasons, and is returning to reprise the role one final time in season three.

Being a huge fan of the games and books, the actor contributed Geralt’s personality to the series, and was highly praised by writer Andrzej Sapkowski.

With him leaving the franchise, The Witcher: Origin becomes very important, as it will have to prove that The Witcher universe remains solid even without Geralt’s presence in the spin-off series.

The Witcher: Inception premieres December 25 on Netflix🇧🇷
