The Mafia of the Tigers 2 arrives on Netflix with more controversy

After becoming a true phenomenon in the pandemic and establishing itself as one of the most watched series of 2020, Mafia of the Tigers won its second season. The new episodes of documentary production have arrived on Netflix and bring back some of the most iconic figures from the original plot, such as Joe Exotic.

Launched during the first weeks of the pandemic, The Tiger Mafia took the entire world by surprise and became an overnight phenomenon. The documentary series tells the bizarre story of Joe Exotic, the eccentric owner of a big cat park in Oklahoma, and his rivalry with activist Carole Baskin.

Due to the success of the production, Netflix even launched a special in April 2020 to tell what happened to the main “characters” after the series premiere.

But the special wasn’t enough to solve the fans’ doubts. As the Joe Exotic story is far from coming to an end in real life, Netflix was quick to authorize the production of a second season of Mafia of the Tigers. See below for everything you need to know about the new episodes.

Meet The Mafia of the Tigers 2 on Netflix

Joe Exotic may even be in jail, but his crusade against Carole Baskin remains steady and strong — at least according to the first trailer for The Mafia of the Tigers 2, released by Netflix.

The 2nd year plot of Mafia of the Tigers is set right after the first season release on Netflix – with most of the personalities enjoying a considerable increase in fame and profits from their businesses.

This trend, however, was not repeated with protagonist Joe Exotic. The eccentric businessman was sentenced to 22 years in prison after planning the death of Carole Baskin, in addition to violating several environmental laws.

There’s an innocent man in jail. Everyone at the zoo is out there making money, and I’m here paying the price. If you guys really care, it’s time to talk,” says Exotic in a phone call from Texas Federal Prison.

Season 2 of The Tiger Mafia also takes a deeper look at the disappearance of Don Lewis, Carole Baskin’s husband who disappeared without a trace in 1997 – and was legally presumed dead in 2002.

Many fans speculate that Carole killed her husband, and the new episodes of the Netflix production have everything to analyze all the theories of the public.

The trailer released by Netflix ends with Joe Exotic saying that “we have to put our differences aside or we will all die”.

The speech is possibly related to an offer of probation suggested by Carole and Howard, her current husband.

In an interview with the Mirror website, Howard said he would advocate for Joe’s release if Exotic supported the Big Cat Safety Act – a bill that bans the purchase and ownership of big cats, particularly lions and leopards.

While in prison, Joe Exotic revealed that he can accept the proposal, but that he still suspects Carole’s intentions.

It’s worth remembering that Carole Baskin gained control of Joe Exotic’s Oklahoma property in 2020. In 2021, the activist sold the land with the express stipulation that it could never be used by zoos or “anything related to the Tiger Mafia.”
