The legend of film direction! 79 years of Martin Scorsese!

New Yorker from Queens, one of the biggest names when we think of world cinema directors, Martin Scorsese, as a child, he wanted to be a priest, but in adolescence he soon changed his mind, seeing his passion for cinema grow more and more in his life. So he studied hard and entered the New York University Film School.

One of his first films that has been recorded, even during his studies, was Who Knocks at My Door? (Who’s That Knocking At My Door) where you worked with your schoolmate Harvey Keitel. From then onwards his films became very well known and he was introduced to a whole generation of artists and directors who revolutionized the Hollywood industry as Brian de Palma, Francis Ford Coppola, George Lucas, in addition to one who would be his great longtime friend, Robert de Niro.

To celebrate 79 years of Scorsese, who has a birthday today, we decided to recommend some good films by this filmmaker:

The Departed

Enjoy watching:

As early as the 2000s, Scorsese finally won an Academy Award, with the interesting (but far from the best of his career) direction of The Departed, with a script based on the Chinese film Internal Conflicts. Jack Nicholson (the role was played by Robert De Niro, who can’t accept) plays a crime boss in the film which also features Matt Damon e Leonardo Dicaprio. It’s a long cop with a lot of suspense and action.

Hugo Cabret’s invention

This project is practically an open declaration of love for old movies and the film world itself. Telling the story of a young man in search of a secret, left by his deceased father, we all embark together with him to decipher this mystery that is shrouded in a lot of cool story about the world of cinema! A beautiful direction from this great director.

Taxi Driver

With outstanding performances from Robert de Niro e Jodie Foster, Martin Scorsese directs a film that portrays the life of a taxi driver in a violent survival scenario in one of the biggest cities on the planet. A movie for you to keep in your collection and review at least once every year.

the good companions

One of the best Gangster movies ever made (being slightly overshadowed by the trilogy The Godfather from Coppola). Working with his friend De Niro and a sensational performance from the veteran Joe Pesci, Scorsese received another Oscar nomination for this beautiful work (lost to Kevin Costner). It is one of the director’s films that earned the most at the box office.

indomitable bull

One of the masterpieces of Martin Scorsese. It has received eight Oscar nominations. A phenomenal job of the always competent Robert de Niro. Jack La Motta is one of the greatest characters in film history. A moving and emotional film! Great!

living on the edge

Work with Nicolas cage it’s pure nitroglycerin. Either the movie will be good or it will be bad. Opinions will be like that, there is no way to escape much of it. In this case the Scorsese/Cage double, the main character begins to receive visions of people he tried to save in the past. It’s a pretty dense movie.

the wolf of Wall Street

Where does greed take you when the world becomes boundless territory? Talking about the capitalist ambition of modern times, harshly criticizing the stock market and punching any puritan in the stomach, the exceptional American filmmaker Martin Scorsese returns to work with his dearest pupil, Leonardo Dicaprio, in the already acclaimed the wolf of Wall Street. Based on the eponymous book written by Jordan Belfort, the film achieves the perfect formula by being dynamic and exciting without losing a minute of brilliance. It’s the fastest three hours you’ll live inside a movie theater.

Cape of Fear

In the early 90’s, Martin Scorsese presented to the cinema universe a very tense film that tells the story of a convicted rape, who spends a decade and a half in prison, seeking revenge against a lawyer. One of many partnerships between Scorsese and De Niro.
