Fede Alvarez, director of ‘the devil’s death‘ e ‘the man in darkness‘, produces the new version.

Alvarez explained this new vision of Leatherface to EW:

“It’s basically the same character, who is still alive. Our opinion is that this guy probably disappeared after everything he’s done. You know, how do you catch a guy who has a mask? Once he removes his mask and runs away, it’s very easy for him to hide somewhere. This story will catch you many, many years after the original story. He’s been hiding for a long, long time, trying to be a good person.”

The plot will set years after the shocking events of the original film, in a setting Leatherface hasn’t seen since.

Mark Burnham (‘Lowlife’) will play the new Leatherface. David Blue Garcia (‘Tejano’) is responsible for the direction.

The cast still has Elsie Fisher (‘Eighth grade’), Sarah Yarkin (‘Death Gives You Congratulations 2’), Jacob Latimore (‘Maze Runner: Run or Die’) and Moe Dunford (‘Vikings’).

Chris Thomas Devlin, known for his work in horror ‘Cobweb‘, wrote the script for the new film.
