Vaccine order given to Serum Institute
The Center has ordered the supply of 66 crore doses of Kovishield from Serum Institute of India (SII) by December. Ordered for the purchase of 66 crore doses. The report states that the dose will have to be supplied by December this year.
SII is increasing the production by increasing the manufacturing capacity of Covishield to 200 million doses per month. Hyderabad-based Bharat Biotech, on the other hand, has not been able to start production of 28.50 crore doses of Covaxin, for which the central government had placed an order in July, PTI reported. The announcement comes days after Prakash Kumar Singh, director of government and regulatory affairs at Serum Institute in Pune-based SII, wrote a letter to Dr VK Paul, member (health) of NITI Aayog and Union health secretary Rajesh Bhushan, saying That the manufacturer has supplied 60 crores out of 65. So far crores of doses have been given in the country.

The company said that SII has also supplied 120 million doses of Kovishield in the month of August.
So far more than 72 crore doses have been given in the country
The government said on Thursday that 58 percent of the country’s adult population has been given at least one dose of the Kovid-19 vaccine. At the same time, 18 percent have been given both the doses. Along with this, the government said that so far more than 72 crore doses have been given in the country. Officials said in a press conference that India is still facing the second wave of corona virus infection and it is not over yet.
Officials further said that in 35 districts of the country, the weekly Covid infection rate is more than 10 percent, while in 30 districts this rate is between 5 and 10 percent. Giving details of new cases coming from all parts of the country, he said that out of the total cases of corona virus infection reported last week, 68.59 percent were from Kerala.
