Soldier Boy is one of the first Supers created by Vought, the company that creates metahumans and manages their image before the public.

And during an interview for the podcast Inside of You, ackles gave some surprising details about this version of the “hero” and how he is presented in the series.

“When I first met the character, I could only think of one expression to describe him: ‘A tremendous arr*mb#d*’. He’s an idiot grandpa from the 1940s. He fought in WWII and he’s a completely bigoted man. He doesn’t age, so he looks like a 40-year-old guy, but he’s over 90, so he connects better with people of his time.”

He continued:

“When we find him, he’s a lost guy who’s been in captivity for decades. You’ll see, I look like the ‘Cast Away’ guy, bearded and hairy. But he gets a new look, a haircut, new clothes and a superhero costume. Then he is reintroduced to the world.”

Previously, the creator Eric Kripke described Soldier Boy as an older version of Homelander, so if you expect ackles live a good guy in the attraction, you are completely wrong.
