The Boys 3, review of the first three episodes: heroes increasingly bad on Prime Video
The Boys franchise also includes an eight-episode anthology animated series, The Boys Presents: Diabolical, now streaming on Prime Video, as well as Untitled Boys Spinoff, set in America’s only college exclusively for teen superheroes, currently in production.
The Boys offers a fun and irreverent version of what happens when superheroes – famous as celebrities, influential as politicians and revered as gods – abuse their powers instead of using them for good. Intent on stopping the corrupt superheroes are The Boys, a group of vigilantes who carry out a heroic quest to uncover the truth about the Seven and Vought – the multibillion dollar company that runs these superheroes and covers all their dirty secrets. It is a struggle between the “powerless” and the “very powerful”.
The Boys season 3 cast includes Karl Urban, Jack Quaid, Antony Starr, Erin Moriarty, Dominique McElligott, Jessie T. Usher, Laz Alonso, Chace Crawford, Tomer Capone, Karen Fukuhara, Nathan Mitchell, Colby Minifie, Claudia Doumit and Jensen Ackles.
Based on the New York Times best-selling comic created by Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson, also serving as executive producer here, The Boys was developed by executive producer and showrunner Eric Kripke.
