The American talk show host Jimmy Fallon is alive and well, but on Twitter they think differently. A few days ago, the hashtag #RIPJimmyFallon was launched and now Fallon is trying to prove that he is still alive. He even enlisted the help of Twitter boss Elon Musk for this, but he only laughed about it.

To be clear, Jimmy Fallon isn’t dead. The hashtag appeared on Twitter a few days ago and it is not clear what it is based on. The hashtag quickly gained a lot of attention and went viral. Twitter users also quickly made a joke of it. For example, they share the hashtag with photos of people who are not Fallon at all.

The presenter of The Tonight Show tried to stop the prank himself by enlisting the help of Twitter boss Elon Musk. He sent him a tweet asking if Musk could fix this. Musk responded by saying, “Fix what?”

The hashtag fits the story that it has become easier on Twitter to spread false information since Musk took over the platform. For example, there was a lot of criticism of the subscription formula for the blue verification checkmarks and the new service has also been abused several times.
