Support from the Occitanie Region for purchasing power: how to find your way around

The communities provide various aids to the inhabitants, which make it possible to support the purchasing power, more useful than ever. We are thinking in particular of the Occitanie Region, which demands solidarity with those who need it most, such as young people, students, families, employees and job seekers. Here are the main devices that exist.

Transport. “The cheapest rail network in France”.

Train. This is what advances the president of the Region, Carole Delga, who quotes the president of the SNCF Jean-Pierre Farandou. The 1 euro train, launched at the time of Languedoc-Roussillon, continues its momentum, with 1.5 million liO train tickets offered at this price since 2016. The TER are even free for regular travelers aged 18 26 years old (30,000 young people registered to date). Subscriptions for the train are also capped at 90 euros, instead of 190 euros previously. “After 50% payment by the employer, no trip exceeds €1”, assures the regional council. On each TER ticket, 75% of the fare is provided by the Region.

Because. Regarding coaches, 370 lines are at a maximum of €2, including 2 cross-border lines. School transport from kindergarten to high school, provided by the Region, is free (i.e. savings of €48 to €315 per family).

Purchasing aids. The regional community also gives a helping hand for the acquisition of “clean” vehicles. The aid goes up to 2000 euros for the purchase of a used electric or rechargeable hybrid vehicle; up to 650 euros for the purchase and use of an electric bicycle. On the counter since 2019: 33,219 bicycle eco-cheques, and 3,518 car eco-cheques issued, for a total support of 11.3 million euros.

Youth: “The cheapest return to school in France”

high school students. Free laptops, plus free textbooks: the equation proposed by the Occitanie regional council makes it possible to greatly reduce the budget devoted to the start of the school year for high school students. 277,000 “Lordi” have been distributed since 2016, and 3.6 million books (a saving of around €160). Let’s add the professional equipment distributed free of charge to high school students in the pro sectors (140,000 since 2016, up to €600 in savings). To be added: the youth card, which allows savings of €500 on average per high school student and per year; the 20 euros allocated to each high school student to encourage reading, and the 15 euros of participation for a UNSS sports license.

Students. Although they do not fall under regional jurisdiction, the students have not been forgotten by the community during the health crisis. Normal: their distress was great. The Region launched the “Eat well for all” operation, which consisted of the distribution of meal baskets worth €15 “composed of regional and quality products”. There were 105,000 beneficiaries thanks to the 141 distributions organized in 2020 and 2021. The regional council also supports students engaged in paramedical training: payment of all tuition fees, scholarships. “Since 2017, more than €68 million have been paid to 16,000 learners in health or social training”assures the Region.

Last March, the Region, supported by more than 50 partners, launched “the Hiring Pact”, with several measures announced for employees and job seekers: vehicle loan; childcare aid up to €250; a job offer in a shortage occupation = 1 guaranteed housing solution; accommodation solution for seasonal employees with the provision of boarding schools in high schools managed by the Region next July and August. The regional council also offers an ecological income: up to €1,000 in aid (all resources combined) to guide young people towards green jobs and support them in their training course or their business creation project. All this is in addition to existing measures: from 240 to 685 euros are paid each month for jobseekers following training financed by the Region, aid which can go up to 1932€ for workers with disabilities. . Results since 2016: 291,000 job seekers trained since 2016, for a regional investment of 1.5 million euros.
