Supernatural 5: Directed by Aquaman Horror Actor Will Have Original Stars

The Supernatural franchise will get a fifth film, which has a confirmed cast and director. An Aquaman star, who has also starred in previous feature films, makes his directorial debut.

Screen Gems and Stage 6 Films are set to begin production on Supernatural 5, the latest installment in the hit horror franchise with Sinclair Daniel, Peter Dager and Hiam Abbass joining the cast members.

Patrick Wilson, Rose Byrne and Ty Simpkins return for this new iteration, while Wilson himself will direct the film, marking his directorial debut.

Set ten years after the end of Supernatural 2, Josh Lambert (Patrick Wilson) heads east to drop off his son Dalton (Ty Simpkins) at a university.

However, Dalton’s college dream turns into a nightmare when the repressed demons from his past suddenly return to haunt them.

Scott Teems wrote the screenplay based on a story by franchise co-creator Leigh Whannell and Teems, and based on characters created by Whannell.

Jason Blum is producing the film for Blumhouse, along with franchise creators James Wan and Leigh Whannell. Oren Peli is also producing.

Steven Schneider, Ryan Turek and Brian Kavanaugh Jones are executive producers.

The Supernatural film franchise has grossed over half a billion dollars globally, with the fourth film grossing $167 million worldwide – the highest grossing in the franchise.

Released internationally by Sony Pictures in 2018, Supernatural: The Last Key became the first film in the horror franchise to surpass $100 million overseas.

Supernatural 5 hits theaters on July 7, 2023.
