Starring Jackie Chan, plus Marvel and DC stars: First trailer shows the return of the Ninja Turtles

The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles are back! In the first trailer for the new animated film, the heroes appear completely renewed and in a really damn good mood.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Animated

Produced by producer Michael Bay, the live-action Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles adaptations aren’t popular with all fans of the iconic martial arts turtles. While the effects were praised, the Turtles of all things were animated in a way that took a lot of getting used to. A return to the roots – or at least to the nostalgic cartoon series from Fred Wolf Films – was consequently desired.

The Nickelodeon Animation Studio has already fulfilled this fan wish with “The Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles”, and in 2022 a feature-length film was released via Netflix. But the real hammer is yet to come August 3, 2023: Then a completely new animated film will start in the local cinemas with “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem”. And there is now a first teaser trailer to admire:

Responsible for the reboot produced by Nickelodeon Animation Studio and Point Gray Pictures was none other than Seth Rogen, jokingly presented here in the teaser trailer as an eternal child, who together with his colleague Evan Goldberg has already made “Sausage Party – It’s About the Sausage” has shown that they understand the métier of animated films. Jeff Rowe and Kyle Spears, who were involved in the congenial “The Mitchells Against the Machines”, took over the direction.

The look of the reboot is reminiscent of Sony Pictures’ “Spider-Man: A New Universe”, which you can stream via Amazon. What both animated works have in common is the fantastic 2D/3D hybrid look, which comes into its own even better in “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem”. In addition, the character design is clearly based on the iconic animated series from 1987 – which should give the fans a plus point.

But that’s not the only difference to the previous films and series with the Ninja Turtles created by Kevin Eastman and Peter Laird: Across colliders let Rogen know that he wanted to focus more on the teenage in the title. His reboot should be a look at the early days of the heroic turtles:

“As a lifelong Ninja Turtles fan, oddly enough, the ‘teenage’ part of ‘Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles’ was always the part that stood out to me the most. And as someone who loves teen films, who has done a lot of teen films and who literally started his career writing a teen film, the idea of expanding on that element was really exciting for us. I mean, without neglecting the rest, that’s really the starting point for the film.”

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem: Numerous stars in the English original

When Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg call, they all come. This is shown once again in the new production of “The Boys” producers, because for the original language version, the two have gathered a real star squad around them. Jackie Chan will voice Master Splinter, Giancarlo Esposito will voice Baxter Stockman, Marvel star Paul Rudd will voice Mondo Gecko, DC star John Cena will voice Rocksteady, while Set Rogen himself will voice his pal Bebop. Also joining are Rose Byrne, Maya Rudolph, Natasia Demetriou, Ice Cube, Post Malone and Ayo Edebiri as April O’Neil. The young actors Brady Noon, Nicolas Cantu, Shamon Brown Jr. and Micah Abbey were hired for the Turtles themselves.
