‘Star Wars: Andor’: Showrunner Reveals How Many Seasons the ‘Rogue One’ Spinoff Series Will Have

When was the spinoff series announcedRogue One’: A Star Wars Story’fans were excited to discover that the plot would be dedicated to the character Cassian Andor (Diego Luna).

And expectations increased even more when it was confirmed that the attraction would not be a miniseries, but that it would be explored in several seasons.

However, the showrunner Tony Gilroy revealed that ‘Star Wars: Andor‘ will only have two seasons, with 12 episodes each.

During his participation in the press conference of the Television Critics Associationhe said to The Hollywood Reporter what:

“Our last scene of the series will be in the 24th episode, and it will take the audience directly into ‘Rogue One‘, specifically for the first scene of ‘Rogue One’.”

gilroy also argued that despite the audience knowing that the series leads to ‘Rogue One‘ and that Cassian dies in the plot, the spinoff was created because there’s so much to explore before the events of the 2016 film.

“We’re all living in a prequel, we’re all going to die aren’t we? That doesn’t stop us from being curious about what will happen before that. And in the movies it’s like that too, you can watch a movie for the 3rd time and even if you’ve seen it six months before… You invest in it if you love it.”

Nicholas Britell will be responsible for the soundtrack. He is known for numerous highly acclaimed projects in film and television. He received two Oscar nominations for his work on ‘Moonlight: Under the Moonlight’ is at ‘If Beale Street Could Talk’. In addition, he won an Emmy Award for his magnificent score for the acclaimed drama ‘Succession’, where he worked on the first and second seasons.
