Actor Dwayne Johnson, who lives Adam Black in DC and recently starred in the anti-hero film, revealed in a recent video which is his favorite Superman.
There are many actors who lived the Man of Steel, with Christopher Reeve, Brandon Routh and Henry Cavill being the best known of all.
The Rock showed respect for Reeve’s legacy, but said he likes Cavill better as the superhero (via ScreenRant🇧🇷
According to the star, Cavill is above all others, and that is why he is the greatest actor to live Superman, as well as being the greatest Superman of all.
“Henry Cavill is the Superman of our generation and, in my opinion, the greatest Superman. And I say that respectfully to the other actors, especially Christopher Reeve, but Henry is the greatest Superman ever,” he said.
Is Henry Cavill better than Christopher Reeve?
Christopher Reeve played Superman for the first time in Superman: The Movie, released in 1978, and which was directed by Richard Donner.
The feature film was acclaimed by critics and fans at the time, and to this day is remembered as a classic, which presented the definitive version of the Man of Steel outside of comics.
Additionally, Donner returned for the sequel, but following a mix-up involving the film’s production company, he dropped out of the project. However, its final cut is complete, and it too is highly praised. In turn, the other two films in the franchise were critical failures.
While the special effects in Reeve’s films are dated, his version of Clark Kent and Superman served other actors very well.
One of the cases is Brandon Routh himself, who played the hero in the movie Superman: The Return, and also in the crossover Crisis on Infinite Earths, from the Arrowverse. Both versions look to Reeve for inspiration.
However, after a few years without a solo film, the hero, in 2013, had a new project, with Henry Cavill in the lead role.
The film is considered by many to be the best Superman since the 1978 feature film, although the version of the character is not so popular.
Subsequently, Cavill lived the Boy Scout in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and Justice League, giving a darker vision for the character. Audiences took issue with director Zack Snyder’s decision to distance himself from the hero’s optimism and joy.
Cavill’s recent appearance was in Black Adam, showing a more confident and optimistic hero in a few seconds than Snyder ever showed.
Even with a few appearances, Cavill hasn’t surpassed Reeve, with the late actor’s version being the most memorable of all on film.
Reeve played Superman four times in four films of the character, while Cavill lived only once in a solo film.
This gives Reeve an advantage, even more so that he was able to better establish how Clark Kent behaves, being a very innocent person, unlike Superman.
Black Adam is currently showing in theaters. Superman movies are on HBO Max🇧🇷
