Remembering that ‘Spider-Man Into The Spider-Verse‘ won the oscar in Best Animation in 2019, and it looks like the sequel is coming for another award.

In an interview for empirethe producer Phil Lord revealed that the feature will have no less than six different animation styles.

“The first movie had an animation style that dominates the movie. This one has six. So we’re taking those tools, adding all the things we learned in ‘The Mitchell Family and the Revolt of the Machines’and then pushing them further to accommodate the ambition of the sequel.”

He continued:

“We did this to impress you every time you enter a new environment and also to make sure that the style of the film reflects the story and that the images are driven by feelings as opposed to some abstract art project, but we also have a little of that, by the way!”

the declaration of lord reinforces what co-producer Chris Miller I told Variety a few months ago.

According to millereach dimension shown throughout the plot will have its own animation style, giving greater uniqueness to each universe and the characters on screen.

🇧🇷Phil I’ve already been saying that this is a very ambitious sequel. And indeed, we wanted to bring something new in technical terms. We couldn’t do the same thing as before. The idea that we would go into different dimensions opened up a creative range for the artists, so we thought about giving each featured universe its own animation style.”

He continued:

“For the staff of ImageWorks, it was a great way to show the look of each artist, you know? It’s like a kind of signature of each artist who participated in the project.”
