Crime fans can be happy that “Sherlock Holmes 3” will continue to come. But that’s not all.
As Iron Man, actor Robert Downey Jr. was able to experience how a cinematic universe works in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. In 2020, the star announced that he would like to expand the two “Sherlock Holmes” films into their own universe. He described the project as a “mystery verse” for which “Sherlock Holmes” creator Sir Arthur Conan Doyle was very important.
While Sherlock Holmes and Sherlock Holmes: Game of Shadows were directed by Guy Ritchie, for “Sherlock Holmes 3” Dexter Fletcher take over the director’s post, which is known for example for the Elton John biopic “Rocketman”. The screenplay is by Chris Brancato, author of the Netflix series Narcos. Fletcher faces each other colliders now commented on the status of the project:
“The pandemic has derailed it. I do think it will be done. I think it has to be done. Unfortunately I don’t know what the schedule is, but I think it should be. It’s awesome. I think it’s about the right people being in the right place at the right time. It’s all about this. It’s one of those cruel twists of fate where the pandemic broke out and scattered people all over the world. But I know the appetite for it is huge and I’m sure other people know that too. But I think it should be because it’s brilliant. I really hope so.”
We don’t yet know when we can expect Sherlock Holmes 3. Instead, you can look forward to these films this year:
