In the post-credits scene of Shang-Chi and the Legend of Ten Rings, Shang-Chi and Katy are in a room with Wong and the holograms of Captain Marvel and Bruce Banner, who are in his human form. A bit confusing, this moment may have misled many Hulk fans, as pointed out by Comic Book Resources.
In the post-credits scene in question, Bruce and his friends examine the Ten Rings. As they try to discover its origins, they come to the conclusion that it’s a mystery that can’t be solved in a day.
Carol is the first to leave, stating that Bruce has her cell number, though he says he doesn’t. Before leaving, Bruce looks at Shang-Chi and Katy and welcomes them to the “circus”, but there is something quite intriguing about this character’s participation.
Avengers: Ultimatum had indicated that after his transformation into Professor Hulk, Bruce Banner would never return to his human appearance. After all, Professor Hulk was a combination of Banner’s mind and Emerald Giant’s muscles, so it might as well be his ultimate look from that point on.
Confusion about Bruce Banner and Professor Hulk
The post-credits scene of Shang-Chi and the Legend of Ten Rings shows that this was not true. However, on the other hand, it is also not true that Professor Hulk will ever return, as it is confirmed that Bruce Banner will somehow return to this form in the Woman-Hulk series.
There is still no official explanation within the MCU on this whole issue.
What is clear is that Marvel seems to be intentionally toying with these ideas around the Hulk, somewhat misleading fans of the character while possibly preparing something bigger about him – after all, there are rumors that the Emerald Giant may finally win a new solo feature film.
