Sex Education: All the Actors Who Will NOT Return in Season 4

Shortly after the release of Sex Education 3, Netflix gave the green light for the production of the 4th season. However, the new episodes are expected to debut with huge casting losses – as several actors and actresses have confirmed they won’t be returning in the fourth year. But after all: why did they decide to leave the series?

“Insecure Otis knows everything when it comes to sex counseling, thanks to his sexologist mother. And then the rebel Maeve proposes to create a sex therapy clinic at the school”, states the official synopsis of Sex Education.

Continues after advertising

Created by Laurie Nunn, Sex Education is one of the most popular series on Netflix. The cast of the British production is led by Asa Butterfield (Otis), Ncuti Gatwa (Eric), Emma Mackey (Maeve) and Gillian Anderson (Jean).

We explain below why 4 actors from Sex Education will not be returning in season 4; check out.

Rakhee Thakrar will not be in Sex Education 4

In the early seasons of Sex Education, Rakhee Thakrar plays Emily Sands, one of the teachers at Moordale High School. However, the actress will not return in the 4th season of the series.

In an interview with a British newspaper, the actress preferred to keep the reason for the farewell a mystery.

“I am no longer part of the series. I can’t say why, but I’m so proud to have been a part of something so important. I have nothing bad to say about Sex Education.”

Patricia Allison also left the series

Ola, one of Sex Education’s most popular characters, will not be in the 4th season of the comedy. Patricia Allison, Ola’s interpreter, confirmed her departure in an interview with British radio.

In the press briefing, Allison said only that her decision to leave Sex Education was motivated by a desire to “find new opportunities” in her career. The actress also revealed that the decision was “difficult”.

“I think it’s time to say goodbye, which is pretty sad, but on the other hand, I have projects in the pipeline, which is really cool,” commented Patricia Allison.

Tanya Reynolds Says Goodbye to Sex Education

Tanya Reynolds, the interpreter of Lily Iglehart, also confirmed her farewell in Sex Education.

According to the actress, her departure represents “a natural progression of her arc”. Reynolds also stated that she “will miss” her co-stars a lot.

“When you have a show with so many characters, I think releasing the older ones and making room for the younger ones is necessary. That’s the way the show should progress.”

Simone Ashley traded Sex Education for another Netflix series

Simone Ashley, the interpreter of Olivia in the first 3 seasons of Sex Education, will not be in the fourth year. The reason is very simple: the actress found huge success with her performance as Kate Sharma in the series Bridgerton.

“Now, I’m a Bridgerton girl!”, said the actress when asked about a possible return in Sex Education.

Currently, Simone Ashley participates in the recording of the 3rd season of Bridgerton, which does not yet have a premiere date on Netflix.
