The Liège family on vacation in Morocco had left, with cousins, uncles and aunts, on an excursion to the oasis of Fint, in the south of the country, some 130 kilometers from Marrakech. On the spot, one of the cousins drowned fatally for a still undetermined reason.
One of the vehicles in the convoy bringing back the body and the already bereaved family then pulled off the road. Six of the seven occupants of the vehicle, three of the four children from Anse, two nephews and an aunt, lost their lives in the accident.
One of the children, Youssef, was a member of RFC Liège. The football club announced on the Facebook page that the players will wear a black armband during the friendly match against Tubize this Saturday as a sign of mourning and support. “An absolute tragedy and an intense pain that no words could come to appease…”, writes the club.
