Sergei Lavrov continues his African tour and lands in Congo

His plane landed around 10:30 p.m. at Ollombo international airport, noted an AFP journalist.

His program plans to spend a night in this stronghold of the Congolese head of state Denis Sassou Nguesso, 400 kilometers north of Brazzaville.

President Sassou Nguesso and Minister Sergei Lavrov will hold face-to-face talks on Monday.

Since Russia invaded Ukraine last February, Congo-Brazzaville has been seen as a “neutral” country in this conflict.

The Russian minister will then travel to Uganda and Ethiopia.

In Cairo, he tried to reassure his Egyptian partners about the risks of food insecurity, particularly in Africa, after the agreement on “secure corridors” for grain exports.
