The Abu Dhabi GP is not only the last race of the season, it is also Sebastian Vetttel’s last race as a Formula 1 driver. The German, who was crowned world champion no less than four times during his career, is already relaxed and looking forward to his farewell race.

“I feel okay,” Vettel said at the Abu Dhabi GP press conference. “It’s hard to comprehend in a way, but I realize what’s happening now and I’m happy with it, as far as I can. It already feels a bit different today.”

Vettel, 35, is currently the third oldest driver on the grid. Only Lewis Hamilton (37) and Fernando Alonso (41), who both remain in Formula 1, are even older.

Alonso left the sport at the end of 2018, but returned in 2021. Lewis Hamilton already thinks Vettel could do the same. “We see other pilots returning, so I accept that it is your last race, but you will come back. Formula 1 can just drag you back into it, we’ve seen that with others,” said Hamilton.
