Rome, January 13, 2022 – The coffin of David Sassoli is in Capitol where, in the room of the Protomoteca, the burial chamber. To welcome the body of the President of the European Parliament and his family, the wife Alessandra Vittorini and children Livia and Giulio, was the mayor of Rome, Roberto Gualtieri. The funeral home remained closed to the public until 10.30 to allow the visit of the highest officials of the state.

The Democratic Party paid his tribute with a large delegation of senators composed, among others, by Valeria Fedeli, Dario Stefano, Roberta Pinotti, Andrea Marcucci, Luigi Zanda, Caterina Bini. Shortly after also Enrico Letta with, among others, the deputy secretaries Provenzano and Tinagli, the head of the Meloni secretariat, the treasurer Verini. Also present was a delegation from Italia Viva led by former premier Matteo Renzi.
