Salmonella in Kinder products: the FASFC gives Ferrero a conditional authorization to be able to produce again in its factory in Arlon

The authorization, which allows a resumption of activities as of this Friday, is granted for a period of 3 months.

During this period, analyzes will be carried out on the raw materials as well as on the finished products. If the results are compliant, the batches may be placed on the market.

“We are very happy to have received the green light from the Belgian food safety authority. We would like to thank the FASFC for its invaluable advice and support”, reacted Lapo Civiletti, managing director of the Ferrero group, to the announcement of the news.

“We are truly sorry for what happened and would like to once again apologize to everyone affected. We have never experienced such a situation in our 75-year history. We have learned the lessons of this unfortunate event and we will do everything we can to ensure that it does not happen again,” he continued.

The Afsca withdrew its production permit from the Arlon factory on April 8 after the registration of around a hundred cases of salmonellosis in Europe, linked to the consumption of Kinder products.
