Russian minister jumped from mountain to save cameraman, body found in water

A Russian minister has died while trying to save the cameraman. Minister Yevgeny Jinichev was taking part in a practice session when a cameraman fell down a mountain. Jinichev jumped off the mountain to save the one in which he died.

Sometimes you don’t even know how death comes. It is as if the person himself has jumped into the mouth of death. A similar incident happened with a Russian minister as well.

Russian Emergency Minister Yevgeny Jinichev has died after jumping off a mountain. The minister had attended a training exercise. Then his cameraman started falling down from the mountain, to save whom the minister also jumped from the mountain. Along with the cameraman, minister Yevgeny Jinichev also died in this incident.

The ministry said in a statement carried by Russian news agencies that the head of the emergency ministry, Yevgeny Jinichev, died while saving a person’s life.

Margarita Simonyan, editor-in-chief of outlet RT, said the 55-year-old minister died as she tried to rescue a cameraman who had fallen off a cliff. He wrote on Twitter- “He and the cameraman were standing on the edge of a cliff. The cameraman slipped and fell… Before anyone knew what had happened, Jinichev jumped into the water after the man who had fallen and hit a cliff.”

It was not immediately clear when the death occurred. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters that President Vladimir Putin has been informed of the minister’s death.

He was participating in a two-day exercise in several Arctic cities, including Norilsk, which began on Tuesday and was attended by more than 6,000 people.

Jinichev was a member of the KGB Security Service in the last years of the USSR. His career began after Putin served in security between 2006 and 2015. He held several high-profile jobs, briefly serving as the acting governor of Russia’s exclave region and then as deputy chief of the Federal Security Service (FSB). He was appointed as the head of the Ministry of Emergencies in May 2018. He was also a member of the Security Council of Russia.
