On Sunday 8 January, a full Sint-Hubertuskerk witnessed a wonderful New Year’s concert by the Royal fanfare band Sint-Cecilia, which is celebrating its 175th birthday this year. With a lot of young musicians, Sint-Cecilia has the wind in its sails. This was witnessed by, among others, ten very young drummers led by instructor Pascal Delvoie, who were allowed to open the concert, followed by Bolero Contrast from the Drumband.

The association celebrating its jubilee, led by conductor Harrie Wijenberg, then performed a highly varied concert with quite a few contemporary songs such as Feel Good, You Raise Me Up, Someone Like You and Happy New Year, interspersed with traditional marching music and concluding with the Radetzki Mars. Halfway through the concert the Drumband showed their skills with Celtic Parade. In the end, everyone agreed: Sint-Cecilia started her jubilee year with a wonderful concert. (eva)
