“This is the biggest concert we’re playing this summer,” Suspekt-Emil concluded.

If that is the case, then unfortunately it was not the biggest experience of the summer, Thursday night on Tinderbox.

Suspicion is basically never bad.

The underworld’s response to Nik & Jay (We can say that ‘Kinky Cousin’ is their ‘Hot’, and ‘Proletar’ their ‘A Day Back’) is always razor sharp on a stage and never boring to watch and listen to.

When they even have the Danish Dr. Dre, Rune Rask, to send one fat beat after another beyond the stage edge, then the victory is almost at home in advance.

But it was just as if the magic was absent in the Millennium Forest.

If this was the biggest Suspekt concert of the year, then I would have hoped they would have made a little more out of it.

Where was Tessa, for example?

She played on the same stage earlier in the day. Unless she had an important appointment and was therefore prevented, it would have been insanely obvious to let her in and rap along on ‘Blæstegnen’ and ‘Vil du med’.

Here we instead had to settle for a pre-recorded Tessa, and it was generally very telling for a routine concert, where the audience also never got completely up in monkey party gear as otherwise previously experienced.

Emil Simonsen himself shouted from the audience towards the end, wondering that they had not yet thrown away their clothes. Yes. Something was missing.

The song SUSPEKT sounded mega fat, clown-roadie Emil Lange was funny when he came driving in on an electric scooter, and it got really wild when the audience finally gave in to ‘Fuck you for techno’.

But when you have experienced golden Suspekt moments at Roskilde Festival and Smukfest, it was unfortunately never the huge party on Tinderbox that you could have hoped for.

Better luck next time,
