I think Christopher needs a new challenge.

I’ve seen quite a few of the 30-year-old pop star’s completed Smukfest shows, and it’s not because there was anything wrong – it was just that it seemed a bit routine when he was allowed to play early again on Friday on the day before the party in Bøgeskoven has really started.

The fans screamed, the band played brilliantly and Christopher once again stylishly used all the tricks in the pop star handbook, but perhaps the time is soon ripe for him to be allowed to shake his pants a little at having to provide the big night party and not just settle for ‘shake ass’ for the ‘girls’ in daylight?

But okay, as I said, Christopher just basically has his things under control.

It started a bit sluggishly with the little-known number ‘If It Werent’ For You’ with the main character placed too far back on the stage, but when Christopher finally came out into the light for the hit ‘Ghost’ and a classic round of ‘what so girls’ , the show ran out there.

(On that note, Christopher should have enough confidence not to constantly ask the audience to clap or ask if ‘the girls are there’, but that’s just a little side note.)

‘Told you so’, ‘I Won’t Let You Down’ and ‘Mama’ worked again and again absolutely perfectly, and apart from a slightly weird distorted version of ‘My Heart’, it all built up sublimely to the three-stage rocket ‘ First Like’, ‘Twerk It Like Miley’ and ‘CPH Girls’, where the former demonstrated time and time again that Christopher should try his hand at Danish lyrics soon.

It was a funny gimmick that the concert suddenly had to be used to record a scene for an upcoming film – but the session also sadly took the breath out of the show – and when he subsequently got the party started again with ‘Fall So Hard’, it all ended a bit strangely abruptly after only an hour of playing time.

Christopher is seen as much stronger – but the sun was shining, the audience got up to speed, and in Christopher’s case, one can only hope that, as mentioned, he will soon have slightly bigger mountains to climb.
