JioPhone Next: Reliance Jio’s first smartphone JioPhone JioPhone Next will now be launched before Diwali instead of September 10. According to a statement by Jio, the much-awaited affordable smartphone is currently in its trial stage and is expected to hit the market before Diwali. Reliance Industries Chairman Mukesh Ambani had earlier said that the JioPhone Next would be available in the market from September 10. Jio and Google are making this phone together. So that the smartphone can reach even the poor people of India.
“Both businesses have started testing JioPhone Next with a small group of consumers and are actively working to make it more widely available during the Diwali festival,” Jio said in a statement. It was also told in the statement that with the additional time, the company will be able to deal with the semiconductor shortage in a better way.
What’s special about JioPhone Next
According to the statement, this additional time will also help “mitigating the current industry-wide, global shortage of semiconductors.” Jio and Google announced that they have made “significant progress” towards introducing the much-awaited JioPhone Next, a smartphone made for India. Both the companies are making it together. JioPhone Next is a first of its kind handset with a customized Android and Play Store operating system.

The company claims that the JioPhone Next device and operating system are expected to pack features associated with phones in the premium category like voice-first features, great camera experience, etc. This will enable users to navigate the phone in their own language, have an immersive camera experience and access to the latest Android features and security updates. JioPhone Next is built with exciting features like Google Assistant, automatic read-aloud and language translation for any on-screen text, a smart camera with India-centric filters and much more.
The affordable phone was announced with the intention of giving 2G feature phone users the option to upgrade to a 4G-enabled device. Mukesh Ambani announced JioPhone Next at the 44th Annual General Meeting of Reliance Industries on Thursday.
