Red Bull Racing does not intend to sell sister team AlphaTauri, motorsport director Helmut Marko confirmed on Tuesday. He denied previous media reports.

At AlphaTauri, previously known as Toro Rosso, reigning world champion Max Verstappen and four-time world champion Sebastian Vettel, among others, started their careers before switching to Red Bull.
AlphaTauri underperformed last season with a penultimate place in the constructors’ standings and is also accumulating financial losses, fueling rumors of a sale. “There is certainly room for improvement and the losses are indeed too high,” said Marko. “But there was never a sale. We want to keep AlphaTauri on board.”
This season, a seventh place in the constructors is the minimum target for the Dutchman Nyck de Vries and the promising Japanese Yuki Tsunoda. In the opening GP in Bahrain, however, both finished outside the points. A second chance will follow next weekend with the Grand Prix of Saudi Arabia in Jeddah.
