Record for “Bares for Rares”: Dealer doesn’t care about the rules and dupes his colleagues

Normally it is a specialty of his colleague Susanne Steiger to snub the competition with “Bares for Rares” with an astronomical bid, now Wolfgang Pauritsch struck coldly.

Werner Adamus made his way to “Bares for Rares” with a particularly beautiful watch. More than 40 years ago, he paid 700 D-Marks for the so-called “Flightmaster” from Omega and was now hoping to achieve at least 300 euros for the timepiece that was developed for professional pilots in Switzerland at the time. The expert Wendela Horz, who estimated the good piece at 2000 to 2500 euros, revealed that his wish was far too modest.

The good man in the dealer room may have to deduct something, but he should be assured of an enormous profit. There is no question that Werner Adamus was happy to accept the dealer card. At that point in time, he had no idea that he would only make a record for a few moments, as the video shows you.

Wolfgang Pauritsch doesn’t give the competition a chance

The fact that Susanne Steiger was represented by her colleague Elke Velten-Tönnies this time was skilfully used by dealer Wolfgang Pauritsch and one of her cleverest tricks. Contrary to the rules of starting with a small bid and then seeing who is still in the race, the Austrian threw the sum of 1,800 euros straight into the ring and was awarded the contract in seconds.

So far we only knew such a procedure from the jewelry expert Susanne, but Wolfgang Pauritsch proved to be a good student and put exactly the amount into play that secured him the victory in no time at all. Even if the expertise was not fully achieved, it is of course understandable that the seller took direct action.

“Bares für Rares” runs on ZDF at 3:05 pm on weekdays. The ZDF Neo offshoot broadcasts repeats at 8:50 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. The concept of the program has not changed in more than 1,000 episodes: experts evaluate the goods brought in before haggling over the sales price in the dealership.
