A success on Netflix, the new version of Rebelde did a great job of introducing the Elite Way School to a more modern audience, as well as reaching the nostalgia of Brazilian fans. Subscribers who have already marathoned season one want to know: when will the new episodes premiere? And what to expect from Season 2?
“In high school, the new school year begins, but a secret society threatens the students’ musical dreams,” says the synopsis of Rebelde on Netflix.
The Mexican series debuted in early December, and it didn’t take long to figure at the top of the platform’s most watched productions ranking.
We’ve explained everything you need to know about Rebelde Season 2 below: renewal status, plot, cast, and premiere forecast.
Rebelde will have season 2 on Netflix?
So far, Netflix has yet to renew Rebelde for Season 2. But given the success of the series, fans can look forward to some great news soon.
Anyone who has marathoned Season 1 knows that the episodes end with a big twist, another clue to the possible renewal of the series for a new year.
It usually takes Netflix between 2 weeks and 3 months to post news about renewals and cancellations. In other words: the fate of the series must be revealed by April or May 2022.
All about the plot of Rebel 2
Fans can look forward to major changes should Netflix decide to renew Rebelde for a 2nd season.
The first few episodes end with La Logia’s secret exposed, and it seems that the mysterious organization has completely lost its power – particularly in Sebastian’s case.[display-posts orderby="rand"]
Sin Nombre wins the Battle of the Bands after revealing La Logia’s secret in front of the entire school. However, MJ decides to perform with Sebas, even with the big turnaround.
Season 1 also features a post-credits scene, in which Luka’s father reveals he has another son.
Clearly, the situation will be much more tense for the Colucci family in the 2nd season plot.
Who returns in the cast of Rebel 2
If Netflix renews Rebelde for one more season, the entire main cast should return in new episodes.
In other words, fans can look forward to the return of Azul Guaita (Jana), Franco Masini (Luka), Giovanna Grigio (Emilia), Sergio Mayer Mori (Estebán), Andrea Chaparro (MJ), Jerónimo Cantillo (Dixon), Lizeth Selene (Andi ) and Alejandro Puentes (Sebastián).
Fans are also hoping that season 2 will bring other cameos from stars from the original soap opera, as happened in the first year with Celina and Pilar.
Season 2 of Rebelde debuts on Netflix
As Netflix has yet to officially renew Rebelde for Season 2, it’s hard to decide when the new episodes will be released.
If the platform gives the green light for production, recording could begin in the coming months.
Thus, it is possible that the 2nd season of Rebelde will reach the platform’s Brazilian catalog in early 2023.
Season 1 of Rebelde is still available on Netflix.
