Approving the proposal of 16 crore 47 lakh 65 thousand rupees for the expansion of Mhow Road Agricultural Produce Market, the Mandi Board has approved works worth six crore 47 lakh 56 thousand rupees in the first phase. Tenders worth Rs 5 crore 73 lakh 81 thousand have been passed for different works through the online process. The contractors of Ujjain, Gwalior and Khargone have got the tender passed at a rate of 25 to 40 percent less than the prescribed government cost.
In the Upaj Mandi, construction work will be done on 4.71 hectare vacant land adjoining the market for the purpose of preparing onion-garlic market in the premises itself. In the first phase, cement concrete pavement around the covered shed and auction area, Hume pipe drain, Rs 194.72 lakh in Sabzi Mandi premises, Cement concrete work on internal road, RCC small drain Rs 179.23 lakh in Sabzi Mandi courtyard, Covered auction platform, Water Hut , Toilets, Wajar supply pipeline and tube well mining will be done in Sabzi Mandi premises worth Rs 169.56 lakh and external and internal electrification of transformer, vegetable market yard will cost Rs 30.30 lakh. According to the Mandi administration, now construction work can start soon.
Auction will be held at one place
At present, onion garlic market and vegetable market are being operated in the old mandi located on Power House Road. After the expansion, the onion-garlic market will be operated in the produce market premises. After expansion, farmers and traders will also be facilitated due to auction of all the produce at one place.

The present campus of Krishi Upaj Mandi is operated in 11.04 hectare which has all facilities including market office. More than 100 shops and godowns of traders have been built inside and outside. Facilities are being expanded on vacant land in Mandi as per the need. The expansion of the market has been considered necessary before shifting the onion market.
