Quentin Tarantino in trouble: he was sued for what he did with Pulp Fiction

Days ago, Quentin Tarantino announced that he had news for his loyal fans and lovers of collectibles. He was willing to auction off never-before-seen scenes from Pulp Fiction along with some annotations of his from the original script, where he gave details of his second film. The idea was to auction them as NFT (non fungible token), a unique piece of digital art that falls within the universe of cryptocurrencies.

Pulp Fiction was the movie that followed Reservoir Dogs, which put him in the center of the scene, and is a tale of several stories intertwined with each other and told in a disorganized way. The protagonists are two thugs who must take care of the daughter of a mafia boss, and a boxer who arranges a fight for money with the boss but cheats him and must escape to save his life. It is a key piece in pop culture, which was even parodied by an episode of The Simpson.

Now, Quentin Tarantino will face a lawsuit for this decision to auction the scenes. It is a total of 7 sequences and, according to what they said from Miramax, study with which he launched this title, they never gave him the approval to do so. They sent him a letter asking him to cancel his project under threat of going to court.

“The conduct of Tarantino forced Miramax to sue a valued contributor to enforce, preserve and protect their intellectual and contractual property rights over one of the most valuable and iconic films owned by Miramaxthey noted in the lawsuit. Thus, they made it clear that they had nothing to do with the situation and that they did not want this to encourage other filmmakers to follow in the footsteps of Quentin to convert some of the titles they produced into NFTs.

What Tarantino said about his foray into the world of NFTs

Director of Pulp Fiction had made it clear that he was very “enthusiastic” for being able to make unpublished scenes from the film available to fans. Furthermore, I had promised “Reveal secrets” about the film for those who could acquire the unpublished sequences. “Secret networks and secret NFTs create a new world where they connect fans and artists, and I’m excited to be a part of that.”, he counted Tarantino.
